Bukola Saraki
The third-most-powerful political office holder in the country has to be the biggest upset. Not only is the 56-year-old the current Senate president, but he was also the campaign manager for the opposition People's Democratic Party. Saraki dynasty" had been consistent in Kwara's politics for the last 50 years. It is believed that many in the state were fed up with alleged lack of development in the north-western state, leading to the formation of the "O To Ge" movement

Godswill Akpabio
A king maker in Akwa-Ibom state, 8 years governor lost in spectacular fashion to Chris Ekpenyong {former deputy governor Victor Attah)

Abiola Ajimobi
1 time senator, 8 years governor.

Rabiu Kwakwanso
A current senator and two-time governor of the northern state of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso. All candidates he backed lost. Kwankwansiyyah movement is virtually in everyhouse hold in Kano state

A 3 time senator, Two term governor of Benue state and a member of APC
